Training Class Descriptions

Transitioning from Blackboard to myTulane (myTulane)
This overview of the new features of myTulane is designed to help users of the previous Tulane Blackboard system make an easy transition from the old system to the new. In addition to an overview of new features, you will learn how best to select and transfer any content you may have had on the old system to myTulane, with a special emphasis on utilizing the myContent feature of the new system.

Introduction to myContent (myTulane)
The new myContent feature of myTulane offers a new and more efficient way to organize content. You'll learn how to use the new features available in myContent to store files and deploy content in your courses and organizations. You'll learn how to use web folders to easily upload and update content and be introduced to the collaboration tools that make up some of the most powerful features of the new system.

Organizing Course Content (myTulane)
This class is the first part of a three class track aimed at getting instructors up and running quickly in the myTulane system. This first class focusses on best practices in organizing content to take advantage of several features of the new system, including utilization of the myContent system and in-depth coverage of the course content areas.

Leveraging Interactive Features (myTulane)
This class is the second part of a three class track aimed at getting instructors up and running quickly in the myTulane system. You will learn how to use some of the interactive features of myTulane, including assesments and surveys, the powerful assignment tool, and the new Adaptive Release feature.

Encouraging Student Interaction (myTulane)
This class is the third part of a three class track aimed at getting instructors up and running quickly in the myTulane system. In this third class you will learn how to use several tools to help encourage student to student interaction outside of class meetings. We will explore the much improved Discussion Forums, the Blog tool, Wiki tool, and ePortfolio tools.

In-Focus: Assessments and the Gradebook (myTulane)
Ready to go beyond the basics? This class is an in-depth look at the Assessment and Gradebook tools in myTulane.

Office 2007 First Looks (Office 2007)
This class is an overview of the new Microsoft Office interface. You will learn about the new ribbon menu, the office button, tabs, and contextual menus. Helpful add-on enhancements will also be presented. Students will learn where to find help and more information about the new Office 2007 applications. This class will not present in-depth application-specific information about Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
